You do it with the engine in. No problem really. Just take it all apart and put it back together. Just takes a lot of time! | |

Ahh OK, well basically I am looking to get the piston rings replaced and new valve stem oil seals, head gasket, etc. just wondered what a mechanic dude would do, as my X14XE drinks oil and is about as powerful as a X12SZ... :( | |

if you keep the block in you aint gotta sod about with lining up the input shaft of the gearbox but i personally would remove the whole engine and freshen up the lot, you can clean and paint the block then too | |

No you can remove the sump and pull them out the bottom | |

Obviously the head would be off, but do you need to remove the block in order to replace the piston rings of an engine? :boggle: |
