Originally posted by Butler It does put me off seeing all these breaking RSTs are ones selling with all these bad points. Its nice to hear actual owners opinions though, I think it probably is down to the fact most arent looked after and people want rid cos they cant be bothered with the hassle.
This is true Jimbo. Like with expensive, high depreciation executive cars, many seem to change hands too many times and nobody spends any money on them in the meantime. Consequently they get run into the ground. You need to buy one from an enthusiast with money to spare, preferably someone who's had the car for a long time, and whose only reason for selling it is to upgrade to a Cosworth. Mine cost me 8.5k over 6 years ago, which in some respects was a bit of a bargain; as a mint, red, standard one owner car with low mileage went for 8k at the same time. Mine was also one owner, but was black which always commanded a premium. On top of that a king's ransom had been spent on it in improvements over an eleven year period, plus I had the benefit of having known the car almost since new. :)
