Only about half a minute off Michael Dunlop's lap record. Impressive. Video lacking sound for me in places.

Seriously miss that noise from the once great WRC. VW Polo's et al just don't cut it.

Reminds me of his 'tank-slapper' in 2011.

Crazy how close it is to the competitive bike times, but also it's great to see what a 2016 Group B rally car would probably look and perform like

They're doing really well in BTCC as well which is impressive considering its a new car and they've missed half of it.

Mark Higgins is some driver. I'd love to be out on that lap with him.

He's going for a 130 lap tomorrow btw

Does the article say what other cars have set a time,?

As i also thought the corrado must be pretty fast at it, little bit slower than a golf r or a marginal amount

I think it's just Subarooo as Mark Higgins (being a rally driver) is probably linked to them. They have done the Subarooo lap for years now.

Well there we go, my mate was saying how bikes are much faster, but i commented they are the fastest bikes you get and the car isn't, only 600bhp

It's not a drag race, it's a 37 mile road race. I'm pretty sure Prodrive have thought about power output at length. Horsepower alone is only a small part of correct formula for going fast round the Isle of Man TT course.

For example, it says in the article they don't run a flat floor because the road is far too lumpy for the ground effect to work.

There's a thread on PH somewhere about the type of car that would be fastest round TT, and the conclusion seems to be that an unrestricted WRC car is basically it.

As Ellis said, Aero isn't much cop round there and the bumps and undulations make any kind of circuit formula/LMP car too compromised.

This Subaru is essentially a Group B 2016 Rally Car, and it's ace. I'm not aware of anybody else lapping it in a car like this, not sure how Subaru have managed to get permission to do it!

I don't think IOM would never sanction a competitive (car) event, as the collatoral damage to houses/people/telegraph poles of cars going off is far higher than a biker smearing himself down a pub wall.
