Ok I'm going to be looking for a corsa early next year, which costs less than a Nova like this one
Cheap as Chips Corsa
It's gona be completely stripped down anyways & rebuilt with a new engine (not a Diesel, but a 2ltr), roll cage & just fuk all else (no ICE, nothing, just a complete bare shell, 1 maybe 2 seats, etc...
Reckon it's worth buying pieces of crap like this to do this too? I don't want to spend more than £500 on a Corsa knowing that its going to be completely gutted.

Aslong as the shell is structurally sound, then go for it.
Did you mean that the Corsa would be cheaper than a Nova? Novas are far cheaper for this type of thing - but Corsas have stronger shells. Unless your seam welding up the shell, in which case they're the same, but the Nova will weigh less.

nah Nova's are getting on a bit now & I prefer the look of the corsa too.
As for cheaper than a Nova, I've seen quite a few going for a bit more than that corsa & there in worse condition too!

as long as the shell is in a1 condition no cracks - b pillar etc hasnt been crashed then get it

the b-pillars will be getting a plate welded on the underside as reinforcement anyway to try help prevent them cracking, but yeah even so, I'm not going to touch one where they've already gone

True, Nova shells are getting harder to come by, but they're not that hard.
If your welding in strengthening plates, get a Harry Hockly plate set as they have plates fabricated for the specific areas properly done and all. Just a thought.
Sounds like a good project though mate, keep us posted with pics etc!

Ive given up counting costs - just depresses you! When doing the money for rallys I have to take into account the "extra" money that always seems to dissappear!!!
Expensive bloody hobby...
Group N - Standardish, basically showroom class, but with suspension upgrades etc.
Group A - Fully uprated to buggery and fooking quick.
If you want to use the car to compete, I strongly advise you to rethink the 2000cc as you'll be eaten alive by Imprezas, Escorts etc.

Oh aye, wouldnt change it for the world. Cruise about streets all weekend or sideways at 90 between portacabins at Edzell Airfield, inches from crashing, throwing the car however and wherever you like...

Rallycross looks great fun! Although you'll spend a fortune repairing the car.
Try Autocross first - roll cage, bucket seat, harness and helmet and your ready to go. Much cheaper and its on grass/mud.
Or cheaper still, Autotests - tearing about carparks between cones against the clock. All you need is a car and a decent set of tyres.

I want to do the 2ltr route, as I've a few ideas I want to try out, and if they fail I'll just sell the engine & stick in something smaller like a 1.6 16v or something.
