My mate just called me, shes broke down on the way to uni cos shes just filled her fiesta (petrol) with diesel!!!

Whats the best way to sort it, can we just get the tank drained and fill it up with petrol or will the system need to be flushed??

The AA won't flush fuel tanks - they're prohibited from doing so by safety and environmental regulations. She'll have to go to a garage

depends how bad it is , if shes driven it could cost a fair whack to fix

one of my drivers did it and it cost me £800 to fix, but ive seen cases where u could just empty the petrol tank and give it a good run and it would be fine

You'll be fine. The cat will need replacing. but once its flushed it will be fine. Also i think you should but a sticker on the tank and on the dash to remind her.

PETROL ONLY YOU DIZZY BITCH.

Yeah hopefully it wont be too bad and a flush will sort it, she only drove it down the road from the petrol station so hopefully no damage. The car only cost £300 so if the engines screwed she might aswell get new car!! it's a H reg fiesta so no CAT thankfully

i did it but the other way round, put petrol in my deisel, lucky i didn't start it, the RAC picked me up and drove me to the local garage where they flushed it. i would suggest you ring the RAC / AA and just ask what they advise.
