your still a dick head for runnin out of petrol though!

Ermm the main problem is water. Over time, condensation builds up in the tank. Water is heavier than fuel, and so sits at the bottom of the tank. Now on most cars, the feed is from 2/3" from the bottom of the tank. When the tank is full, the feed sucks the fuel (mostly from above and slightly below its position - ie: petrol). However, when u start runnin the tank right down, it sucks up the water + fuel mixture from the bottom of the tank instead.
A Fuel filter will not filter water from fuel, and so it runs into engines. 90% of the time, this will be ok, but like on my bro's old Nova GTE, the one time he ran low, it cost him quite a bit to repair!!!
Altho, i never had a prob on my 1.2i corsa ever!!

There is a theme emerging about novas
I used ot have an sr had adodgy carb cut out near my house, got mate to come and look at it and there was no petrol omg how silly did I feel stoopid god damn fuel gauge
My mates the best at this he always runs it near enuf dry but always just manages to get to the petrol station I mean it's chugging when we're rolling in

How the hell do you manage that?? I get £40-45 miles from £5 on average, can get 50-55 if I drive really really carefully. I have a 1.2 8v aswell,
