no but the reason i dont want it is because EVERYTHING runs on IE6 in xp and the javascript is broken

that means i cant:

search;
view the help topics;
change the users on my pc;
etc etc




so after me sayig that is there nething that can be done to fix this

ie5 won't fix that, only way would be a recovery of the OS

either that or just download IE6 and do a repair function by running the setup program for it

but if i do that i get error sayin newer version of ie detected setup must exit
is there a repair app???

your trying to run the IE6 setup yeah? not IE5?

try re-download the IE6 setup from the microsoft website incase they released an update just after the one you have got

one thing though...

by default windows xp doesn't support java, you need a plugin, so the user control panel, etc, won't require java.

But try this either way...

Java and Javascript are two seperate entities. IE6 supports JavaScript and additional Java with Microsoft VM installed.
