do i need a special tool to do up the bolts once the strut brace is on top of the shocks?

you shouldnt even need an impact wrench for the rear top nuts
a decent socket and bar is all you need

just looked at it, and you have to turn the thread one way and the bolt the other way at the same time.

You need an air gun to put the strut brace back on due to the strut brace design.
Thought it'd only take 2 mins to fit mine, ended up just driving back to demon tweeks for them to airgun it on!

so all i need to do is undo the top bolt on the shocks put the brace on then do them up again? with a torque wrench?

no mark an impact wrench, as in a gun on an airline.
