Right my mate reckons that my bank account number is the one on my card accross the middle !

Yet my bank statement no is the same as the 8 digit one in the bottom right corner of me card not the 1 in the middle !!

Which 1 is it, please clarify and stop an argument

Account number is usually last 8 digits of number acros card.

the card number is the long one across the middle of the card the sort code and account number are the ones at the bottom of it
