yeah a new gasket costs nothing, all labour, its an involved job, takes me about 8 hours just doing it in me own time not rushing, i tend to get distracted and start cleaning things on the way LOL

oh you will need a new set of head bolts too they are about £12 might as well change the cam belt and the tensioners if they are a bit noisey

before you go to all that expence have you checked your carpet under the dash, could be your heater matrix leaking, just a thought.

nope no wetness on carpet. Fing is tho the cars driving fine, if my head gasket had gone wouldnt i notice a drop in performance?

You might not notice any difference mate, there are many symptoms for a blown head gasket some times you have one some times a combination, i have just been cleaning the mating face of the cylinder block on my spare C16XE where the head fits on and you can see that all the oil/water ways and cylinder bores are real close together it dont take allot for the gasket to go between these, just get a garage to check it

booked in 2moz for a service and sort out this coolant problem. Anything else i should get them to do while they're at it? If they do replace the head gasket they're gonna have my engine in pieces so are there any bits that i should replace while they're at it?
