They would be different designs anyway, but no difference in sound, mild steel ones usually have stainless insides and painted body

mild steel is made if mail steel and stailess steel is made of stainless steel
there is no difference in sound. but mild steel will last about 18months and stainless will last for life!

Stainless will only last for a long time if it is good quality stainless. There are many different standards, and these are 'normally' reflected in the price.
As an example, we use a lot of aircraft spec stainless at work, and a sheet 2m x 1.25m would typically cost £500 compared to £45 for commercial spec.
The aircraft spec stuff is more pure.
