Re: my engine -
started a new topic as i didnt want to hi-jack that othet one, ken
My thoughts are that the big end on one of the rods has let go (rod bolts holding the rod to the crank... thay move the piston up/down)
Im going to drain the oil out sometime (been saying that since aug03 ) whip off the sump pan and have a ganders. Fingers crossed all it needs is a new rod bolt, and maybe bearings.
If so..... i will not be selling it. I will use it to make the mini bucket nova
But..... im never much good at plans, so who knows

you would be best going for a engine that you would get the g-box with, less hassle

then you have all the hassle of stripping the GTE as well as your car...
Do you have room to store two useless cars whilst doing all this.
I think it is a much better option to just buy the engine/box etc already out... you may have to pay a tad more.... but the hassle saved is worth it.
What will you do with the engine-less astra afterwards? Split for spares - then you have all the potential hassle of folk saying they will have this n that, messing you around, not paying etc... and all the time the thing will no doubt be gathering rust/dust where ever you are storing it!
just my opinion of course
