I want to set up a new forum have found these three but cant decide which to use:

  1. Invasion Power Boards
  2. phpBB
  3. Extreme Message Boards (XMB)

Which one is the best to use? I am thinking that the phpBB one will be my best choice, am I right?

    Any help would be great.

Sod that can't be arsed writing all that code!

Got all up and running but still think phpBB will do for what I need, Invasion has lots of features that could be useful so in two minds now.

Invision also has quite a large modifying community (and I mean modifying the forums, not cars ).

For a look, have a browse to http://mods.ibplanet.com/db/ (you may need to register on there).

If you write your own, you can fix it when it breaks.

They always break

phpnuke can be slow, and also unreliable. the port of phpbb isn't great!

invision is good yes, but can be quite open to attacks & is the most insecure system i've seen, plus sloppy coding!

phpbb is pretty good, but there aren't many decent templates out

i've got my eyes on phpbb 2.2 though, looks fantastic!
