i just checked for the retaining clip behind the window winder and cant find the stupid thing i think that the previous owner has had the winders off then broke the retaing clip and bonded them back on. wud this mean i wud have 2 snap the handles off 2 get the door card off??

yes. if they are bonded on you will prob have to cut them off. have a good luck tho cos the clips are hard to spot try looking with a torch

are they anywhere near the plastic part of the winder or on down the metal rod a bit?

they are rite next to the plastic part, if you take a look with a torch you mite be ablt to see them glint. you can get behind them with and allen key or coat hanger

try getting a tea towl and hocking it around the back of the handle then try and wiggle it untill the clip comes off, worked on my misses fiesta
