Anybody know the weight of the 1.4 pterol as standard, and how a standing start race between one, and a corsa B 1.4 8v SRi with 270 degree lift cams, and induction kit would go? I think they are 75bhp, my mate is getting a brand new one on wed. and is sure he is going to beat me! Also i told him about not ragging a brand new engine and he doesnt believe me, so is it true? (im gonna get him to read this! ) Cheers, Matt

1.4 P Golfs do a 14sec 0-60 or something crap like that. Very heavy as said. Corsa would beat it I would think.
With regards to the new engine, its not as important as it used to be to run a new engine in as they all have bench miles put on them nowadays. Some mechanics I know say its better to drive a new car quickly from the start and it will be fine.
Having said thay my uncle works for FORD in Detroit and is responsable for quality on brakes, tyres, suspension and fuel systems over all mainstream FORD models and you wouldnt believe how many cars get shipped to the dealers without any oil in them.
He is working on a recall on all US Ford Focus models 2000> When they were first tested they were tested on European fuels which are cleaner than US fuels and they are discovering now at about 80,000 miles the fuel rails are clogging up. Costing them 20 million or something but they simply bill the supplier of the fuel systems for the money.

she has the TDi 130, we took it down to AmD (generally regarded as one of the best in the business) http://www.auto-amd.com/home.asp
They remapped if for us and supplied the oneclick which allows you to return the car back to its original state. We also bought some TT alloys at the same time. It really does go now i'm so impressed, didnt want to get back in the astra but... there are some awesome golfs there most have TT engines in them! I have a friend who works there and he has a Fabia Rs with the same engine which has been mapped and that also flys!
Diesel = way forward!

My old Punto 75sx was faster than my dads 1.6 Seat Cordoba which has basically the same engine as the golf, so the 1.4 ain't going to get near a 1.4 8v SRi.
