Yeah, rev it up, hold it, in fact owing to more or less quite poor torque in the 1.2 you can over rev it a bit and the handbrake is good and there is enough grip at the back end.....I mean on some powerful FWD cars you can drive off with the wheels locked at the back !
Then you fire it off the handbrake whilst simultaneously burying the throttle, its kinda like a slingshot, not great for the clutch and the transmission in general but thats the trade off.
I remember using this technique in a Fiesta 1.25 lx courtesy car (75 bhp supposed 0-60 in 11) against a guy in a Peugeot 106 rallye, the 1.6 type, and whilst this car is technically faster, I fired it off the handbrake...in the wet and he fucked his start even though he had the reactions off the lights, he bogged, then nailed it and spun out....it wasn't till I was in third.....no joke that he was catching, and I pretended to be turning off you know. This guy was flashing lis lights and stuff. Whats the deal, full beans power start, learn how to drive your machine !
