Been quoted £490 inc vat to replace and fit the front driver's side stub axle and a 4 wheel alignment. Does this sound right?
Basically, hit a kerb due to ice, and the front drivers side wheel was pushed to the back of the arch, and couldn't be driven away.
Any ideas?

Having it picked up and taken to Perrys in Preston as i trust them to do it, plus they will do it cheaper.
It happened on Wednesday, was towed to Hartwell Vauxhall the same day, but they only looked at it yesterday! All that and no courtesy car! Not happy

If they have quoted £490 the it might not just be the wishbone thinggy but the whole susspension leg or summat. The car doesn't need to go on the jig if it's just supension damage unless it bent the chasiss leg.

haven't a clue, he just said its going to need a new stub axel and a new wheel (which i'm supplying)
I was doing about 10mph, hit some ice and couldn't turn at all, or brake, then twatted the biggest kerb i've ever seen. Like i said, it couldn't be driven away, and the AA bloke had difficulties getting the towing stuff under the splitter

As Drew said it will probably have been towed on a spec lift, that ifts the front two wheels up and leaves the back two on the road.
Thats probably why he had trouble, if the front two wheels are out of line it will be awkward to get on the lift.

Same problem on my corsa when it was bought, had to be jigged 3 times and wishbone had to be replaced.

A mate just hit a curb in a 2003 sxi at about 15mph. Getting fixed by vaux at the moment at a charge of £600. He is very sad!
