Afternoon all.
Righty, i've fitted a halogen light in my bedroom, rather funky (Thanks Donna and her mum ). All the wiring is RIGHT but it still wont power up. Bulbs light up for a split second then go out again.
Two things I think it could be.
1, not enough power getting to the bulbs, only 20w bulbs so can't really see that.
2, i've heard that some light switchs don't work with Helogen bulbs. I dont know how (Thought a switch just connected the circuit up tbh), but i've just heard it could be this.
Has anyone fitted them that could lead me in the right direction. As i say, all the wires/earth etc are right!

You mean the low voltage ones?
You need a transformer with them

It worked fine when we put them up at Donnas. No transformer was needed.

they are 12v they definately need a transformer and Im almost certain that there arnt any with built in transformers. So if youve plugged them into 240v then you will have blown them up

could be a loose connection or the switch

aye fair point never thought about them having the transfromers already in the existing wiring. By the sounds of it when you tried them at the other personas house they must have been in a kitchen with the already in and they have obviously worked but when youve put them in your bedroom youve connected them upto the mains direct and blown the bulbs

try putting them instead or wiring to lighting circuit-im guessing that where they are
put a plug on the end instead and try that
could be the lighting circuit not liking them lights
