What is the 12 core for? You could use two lengths of 7 core....

OK.... i got the screened 20 core from maplins.
but on cutting the origional (Kenwood) wire. this is what i found....
The cable i got from maplins is just a normal 20 core screened cable.
Any ideas of what to do

only thing i can suggest is get 2 2 4 core screen wires then a 10 core wire extend them
then tie the 3 wires together
it seems a lot of hassle but the screening is there for a reason

http://www.maplin.co.uk/products/module.asp?CartID=040220200705757&moduleno=136
and then just use my 20 core for the other 10 wires?

i think it would be best to contact kenwood cos to be honest extending the cable like u want to could cause you some problems interference wise.

Ok this is just a follow up....
After spending 5 1/2 hours on exteding the cable.. using 3 diffrent cables.
Fully continuity tested and checked the resistance wasnt increased.
Connected it up today. with no luck whatsoever
So rang kenwood for a replacement who put me in touch with Fullers (must be the company who makes the leads)
And one is being sent out for me this week. £41.95 WHAT A BASTARD!!!
Same short length so im gonna have to move them closer together now. wish i had of just done that in the first place

Did you check only the parts you extended or from corresponding points on either connector of the lead?

i checked continuity by pinning out either end of the cable

Must be the sheilding problem then. Did you use shielded cables to extend it all?
