Just had my car looked at as it wouldnt start. Just had the garage on the phone and they said it was the map sensors??
Any ideas what they are or what they do?? I dont have a clue

Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor, It's one of the sensors on the intake.

any ideas why that would prevent my car from starting properly?? Im hopless with engines and stuff like that incase you hadnt already worked it out

Its a small black box with a vacuum connection on it, it has a vacuum pipe going to from the inlet manifold, it measures the vacuum in the inlet manifold and adjusts the fueling accordingly.
Its its duff then the engine will run really badly, backfire etc.
I think the sensor is clipped to the bulkhead.
If you find it, disconnect it and try and start it, you'll soon notice
I believe most map sensors across the vauxhall range are the same.

u sure he sed MAP sensor and not MAF sensor?

well it manifold absaloute pressure
has a vacumm pipe on it
not hard to fix
