I've finished my 6 weeks training now, and i got my badge from the Home Office this morning, so i'm now officially a PCO (Prisoner Custody Officer).
As of Monday the handcuffs will be in use

Ive been taught C&R (control & restraint), which is using force with the prisoners safety being the main priority... lol...
I don't actually work in a prison, so anything you've watched has no correspondence with me LOL.
I work for Group 4 (now GSL - Global Solutions) and i basically transport/escort the prisoners between prisons/courts. So with being in transit and insecure areas alot of the time, escape risks are a large factor with my job. We assist in the courts too - interesting.

Without going into any detail, there's someone in the system who has cut flaps into the inside of their mouth and conceals razor blades in them.

I can't drive the cellular vehicles yet though because i passed my test after 1997, so i have to take an additional test. So i'll be in the back with the prisoners all the time. Not sure when they're gonna put me through the test.
