Hey guys, is this a pop up box that comes up as "messenger" or something, advertising porn and the likes. If so ... i have the solution - go to start, settings, control panel, administrative tools, then scroll down to "Messenger", then right click, properties, and where is says "start up type" change that to disabled, and then no more messenger pop ups. This doesnt effect your msn messenger, has nothing to do with it I had the same problem and everything is A ok now Any qns gimme a shout

on windows 2000 go start>settings>control panel>administrative tools>services then search for "messenger" in the list, and right click and click stop. problem solved, not sure if its the same procedure for other operating systems, but i dont think it will b too hard to figure out. hope it helps

no need to mess about in services.msc... just banish it for good!!

1. Click on Start.

2. Click on Run.

3. Copy and paste this line into the box:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

You'll get a prompt at the beginning of the process warning you to exit the program and make sure it isn't running.

You'll get another one afterwards showing that it's indeed gone.

Somebody told me adaware was not only picking up stuff but also planting spyware. Not sure, not a computer boffin.

I use Norton to stop popups.

Google toolbar doesnt stop them all.
