Get really noisy when its getting close to top end?

Rachel's mate brought a SRi yesterday, we took it down the motorway and when it goes over 80mph the engine starts to get noisy like the engine is really struggling and revving high.

Is this just a characteristic of the 8v engines as they don't have the extra power top end like the X14XE?

Yeah its standard, its done 108,000 miles but is in immaculate condition, maybe the fact its done a fair few miles means that the top end has got a bit noisy.

Thats because you have a induction kit and thats what the X16 sounds like.

Remeber when I picked it up it was noisy without any sort of induction or exhaust noise, thought it was diesel

But it wasn't just when going it fast it was generally a noisy engine.

Tis very much noisier now tho
