i fitted new plugs today (6x NKG Iridium BCPR6EIX-11's )
see http://skylineowners.com/forums/sho...69436#post69436 for initial prob
and quote
changed the plugs.....and oil
Had a mare of a time with the plug on No3 the ceramic was all cracked and stuck down the hole bitty.... I was 90% sure i had it all out before removing the plug and fitting the new iridium.
changed the oil after that, then went to start the car....
Ran like it was not firing on all cly.... very lumpy. Cut off. Went and checked all connections/hoses etc, all looked fine... restarted.... still like a bag of nails... (at this point i was thinking that a big lump of the ceramic had fallen into the engine )
let the car idle for a while.... gave it some part throttle.... seemed to clear its self up
i'll see what its like from cold again later on
the car is now running fine on throttle, boost is ok etc...
BUT when coming to a halt from in gear... say pulling up to lights etc. The car is cutting out more easily than it used to (blitz BOV) and on occaision the revs are hunting (going from 500 to 800 for about 10 secs before settling again...
any ideas?
Are the std electrode gaps on NKG Iridium BCPR6EIX-11's ok? I never checked them... are they 1.0 or higher or 0.8 (1.0 is std nissan spec yeah?)
Does it sound like an vacuum leak to you?

Doesn't sound like a vacuum leak, that would be there even when warm?
Perhaps the new plugs are 'too much' for the old leads. Does the Skyline have a diz cap? I'd change that first, my MR2 had a shitty idle until I changed the diz cap then all was fine.

what a day
cleaned AFM, TB, hoses pipes etc...
seemed to fix the idle...
BUT went back to the 'running like the corsa' again (not running all clyn)
quick tear up of the engine resulted in me finding some dodgy connections to the plug on clyn 1.... gave them a good hidin.... and its running smooth again....
see how it goes tomorrow am.... Marge nearly got whipped up into being a 1/4 runner for tomorrow

its does in a way...
all the plugs are powered from those little conectors .... then from the conectors to the plug via a wee rubbery plunger kinda thing
supra 2jz gte was the same

Yup, no Distributor/coil pack, as each cylinder has its own little coilpack. Same as on the 1.2 16v's and 1.0's actually .

Stockerov - if you read this
Cutting out due to BOV is now alot better .... hasnt happened since cleaning the AFM and throttle body with carb cleaner...
maybe should have used the super strength you bought instead
