some SRi's were also SPI models
if you don't believe me, look in the corsa handbook which comes with the B series, its in the back... SRi...C14NZ

Just look under the bonnet. MPi's have a large inlet manifold with a throttle body on the left hand side with hosing going to an airbox.
The SPi is basically a carb which just has electronic fuel metering. Indentiftable by a small black cap which sits over the electronic carb. Pretty gutless engines the SPi's are. Almost like shoving a sock in someone's mouth.
MPi's are much quicker and sound a lot nicer. Pretty meaty with a drilled airbox or cone filter.

This was discussed in a topic a while back, that engne PaulW was on about
spi but in a sport spec, that was used in some late Novas.
1.4i Nova which was quoted at 60 bhp but was as quick as the 1.4 Sri at 82 bhp.
Probably an earlier design at getting more power from the 1.4 was cheaper to make but had higher emmisions.
