basically, the cylinder bores glaze, the should have a honed pattern on them, when they glaze after interstella milage it means the honing marks have worn and the cylinder bores have a glass look to them, busting this glaze involves either a re-honing tool or a bit of wet and dry sand paper

tbh, i wouldn't bother replacing anythign unless its already on its way out.
Redtops are very strong engines, and theres still room to work on them. Mine was a 90,000 mile engine. Since its been fitted only the crankshaft sensor and water pumps gone up the spout. There really is no need to replace all the parts till ther are knackard. Your only upsetting an ok engine otherwise.
I had this same dilema when i had mine put in. I wanted it rebuilt, but was advised by a lot of people who i rate as having a lot of good engine knowledge not to bother. So just the basics like oil etc go replaced.
Now im doing my sump gasket (fucker of a job) and cam cover gasket as its seeping oil.
Also, i mite add, if you want to do a rebuild, then now would be a good time to get uprated parts for inside otherwise u've got to take it all apart again to fit newer parts that u've only just recently replaced.
Personnally, before fitting, i'd just check the water pump, replace the cam belt (I done that too), check all gaskets and replace where neccesary and leave it be.
my 2 p's worth.
