My Petrol gauge is well and truely f*cked... I fill my car up and it'll show 40 litres. After about 50 miles it will be on the red. After about 200 miles the needle will rise back up to about 20 litres and drop at a normal rate, at 15 litres on the gauge my car ran out of fuel

(it was still showing 15 litres when my car spluttered to a stop and I got out)

Was in the middle of no where too - had to get my mate to come collect me and take me to a petrol station that was about 45 mins + walk away ...

Anyone know whats up with my car? is it the sensor (how does the sensor in corsa's work? float style thing or what?) - or is it the electronics in my dash?

I'm getting sick of this because now there's no way I can tell how much fuel I have as it will go up and down as it pleases with no relevance to how much fuel I have - I can roughly guess it on mileage, but thats only if I remember to reset trip thing.

I rag mine - but why does that mean its gonna go 40 litres to 0 to 20 to 15 ... it used to go up and down a little bit like when ur going up hill or down hill, but this is crazyness. Also it's never shown its got fuel in it when I've run out of petrol before...
