I'm worried now about buying the coilvers. Wanted to get them cos I think they would be a good purchase for the car.

Has anyone else got these that can give them some good reviews?

Was only gonna go for the Highsport Kit, not the Konigsport kit to be honest and was gonna run original ride height for everyday use, then lowered for shows.

Any help much appreciated.

i am selling some vertually new( 0 miles)avo coilovers which think most people wud say are good ones cos u can ajust front and rear height and dampening 2 how u want it!

i got spax on the one corsa which are ok, cant change rear rige height and they are close 2 the wheels at front!

the other corsa has the avos on them and look very good quality but never moved or tried them yet sue to now engine in the car

I need to buy new as I'm abusing a new credit card with them.

I'm open to suggestions really, but the Fk are good value I think at only £480 inc VAT.

The ones I am looking at, the Highsport are only front/rear ride height with fixed dampening.

The problems that Sam experienced were because his wheels are wide at 7", so the coilovers could not be wound right down as the inside edge of the tyre was very close the damper body.

BAT sent him a replacement assister spring which reduced the overall length of the sprung component and which I'm fairly sure cured the problem.

I'm sure there's another thread somewhere that finishes with good news not bad!

i was wondering about this, are different struts different sizes etc.. as i know somw people have 7 x 17's etc that dont touch the coilover strut, but some do?
I want coilovers but am loooking at 7.5 x 18 wheels, so will i deffo need spacers??
i dont want spacers either...

7.5" wide wheels would be OK with coilovers, but you wouldn't get the full adjustment out of them as you can't move the spring seat down lower than the height of the wheel.

Lower offset would improve things possibly.

hmm i dont want crap offset or spacers, as 7.5 18's will be nearing the limit anyhow...
would concentric topmounts help me maybe??
Im not buying the wheels if i cant get coilovers on with them

i was gona get a set of these! but it would mean that i'd have to get spacers! i bought ET49 for a reason!

put it this way, i have FK Highsport Coilovers on 18s (215/35/18) ET42, its lowered about 55mm, and i have no problems at all!

ET42 and what width?? 7" or 7.5"

Im looking at 7.5" ET45.

Adjustable top mounts won't help as the distance between wheel and damper shaft wouldn't differ by adjusting this.

ah cwap i have the exact same wheels as him and i wanted to get the same fk suspension as him

i remember him saying he solved this somehow i must investigate more

The helper spring can be removed completely if you're going very low. It might mean that the spring is loose when the car is jacked up though, same problem as with lowering springs and standard dampers.

Thanks for filling in the gaps Ian

It is true that i have solved all the problems i originally had, if you have wide wheels 7inch or wider then the wheel will be very close to the shock shaft and add to that the extra 10mm width of the platform thats surriounds that means you can only lower to top of the wheel!

The FK comes with a big spring and a smaller spring(dont know why) if you want it lower then you can remove the smaler spring and will make it low, but when the shock will travel up and down then the spring will be loose and could be dangerous!

My problem was solved by having a replacement smaller spring that fully compressed when the car was down so same effect as having the smaller spring out but when the shock travelled it was there to apply pressure and keep the bigger spring in place

Hope that makes sense

the spring w2ll only move when the car is jacked up yes?

it shouldnt move when the weight of the car is on it.

another question--> are these coilovers suitable with a redtop in?

The spring will move when there is cerfincient travel in the shock and trust me we tried it and it doesnt take much

sure ure down 60 anyways i wont need to go and lower than that.
