If it was a dog you need to report it.

Not any more you don't. It was a legal requirement when dogs were licensed, but since dog licenses were abolished it should no longer apply.
How fast were you comming out of a parking space for a soft furry animal to cause damage
If your in a rural area, its possible that a small deer or something was startled by your car, they can cause a bit of damage, unless it was a mad light butting hare.

i recon it might have been a fox sleeping under the car, came out of the space at about 5mph, recon i ran over its tail, wen i heard the noise i stopped straight away...it wud make sense coz if its tail was stuck under the wheel then it could have gone crazy tryin to escape.
however, it may have been something like a deer coz the carpark had a large field next to it.
n e way, am gonna go to work and on the way back invest in some t cut and use my polish to see what i can do

am just glad that it isnt major damage coz telling the insurance company that some animal beat up my car would have them all pissing themselves.

o yer, also found some patches of blood on my bumper and arches :s
