dan had a warning sign telling him to check brakes few weeks back, so he got his brakes done by unit 4 motors in bletchley , then his computer thing on his dashboard started saying check brakes again. he took it into vw for something that was picked up on service and asked them to see what was wrong as the brake pads had only just been changed. went to pick it up this afternoon and the bloke said that there had been some wires linking the sensor to the computer on the dashboard that had been cut, and what he thought had happened was when the other guys did the brakes the only pads they had were too big so they cut the wires so that the pads would fit.

vw reckon it'll cost them £300 to fix it, dans taking it back to the other blokes first tomorrow cos they wanted to see the car, but they arent going to fork out £300 easily are they? we have receipt from them showing labour and parts, but what do you guys reckon?

Mate, guna be hard as you have no proof it was them that caused the damage to ur car. they will say they didnt touch the wires and it will be your word against theres. The best thing for you to do is go and see what they say, if they say they will give you the money back, then fair play, tell them to do the job again and say u want a refund for the inconvinience of having to go through all of this, for the original work they did. If they say fuck off and shoves those wires up your ass, then tell em that you will take em to small claims court, even though you probably wont cos it aint worth it, but aslso hit em where it hurts and tell your local paper, get them to print a story and totally screw up their credability. Be careful how much you tell the paper though cos you dont want them suing you for slander. If they have any brains they will decide to do what you want rather than lose loads of business cos of a story in the local paper. said my pice mate, good luck..... oh and by the way, this worked for me mate.

took it back to the place in bletchley they fitted the brake pads again so they fit, bodged it but as they said the wires were already damaged theres not much else we can do. just have to get it done next time the pads need changing (which wont be long at all knowing the way dan drives) remember to get it done at vw in future. NO ONE EVER GO TO unit 4 motors in bletchley, tavistock street
