Yeah life doesn't mean life really. You can get a life sentance but the judge could recommend you serve only at least 10 years. If you get a life sentence, even if you've served your 10 years, you can be put back in prison at any time. I can't remember what the technical terms called.

The legal system is confusing. If you get sentenced 0-3 years i think you serve half the sentence on good behaviour, anything over 3 years and you serve 2/3 of it.
But say you got sentenced to 3 years and was released after 1.5 years (half) and re-offended, you'd get put away for the new crime you commited and you'd serve the extra 1.5 years on top from the sentence before.

Some of the barristers etc i deal with at the courts don't know everything they should, one asked me for advice the other day about a serving prisoner, whether the time he'd get would run concurrent or on top... lol...

What was the court scene like? Whenever i see court room action on TV the barristers are always jumping up shouting 'i object your honour'
