my brushed alloy dial surround? its a bit scratched up now so i wana chrome it/make it real shiny to match my door handles.

lots and lots of elbow grease and some metal polish. might take you a while though...

yeah should do im not too knowledgable about polishing metal, all i know if done properlly looks better than chrome

You can get i machine polished for much cheaper than the cost of chrome plating. A guy on MIG had an mfd fascia from me and he polished it so it had a mirror finish.
Even using a fine cutting paste such as T cut will make a difference. Try experimenting on the back of the trim so if you mess up it won't show.

look in yellow pages under "metal polishers". They should charge you between £5 and £15 i'd imagine. Even if you were to get it chrome plated which isnt cheap you would need to get it polished first.
