Right I'm confused, I'm bidding to buy another Nova on e-bay but everytime I put a bid in it tells me that I have been outbid by a higher bidder but my bid is above the highest bid? Am I missing something.
Here is the link for the car.

Ahh I see
eBay uses a helpful bidding system (called proxy bidding) to make bidding on auctions more convenient and less time-consuming for buyers.
Here's how it works:
When you place a bid, you enter the maximum amount you'd be willing to pay for the item. Your maximum amount is kept confidential from other bidders and the seller.
The eBay system compares your bid to those of the other bidders.
The system places bids on your behalf, using only as much of your bid as is necessary to maintain your high bid position (or to meet the reserve price). The system will bid up to your maximum amount.
If another bidder has a higher maximum, you'll be outbid. BUT, if no other bidder has a higher maximum, you win the item. And you could pay significantly less than your maximum price.

So I need to put the maximum in? Cool, I'll put in what I am willing to pay and see what happens.
Not a bad idea that.

You should leave it til the end, no point in pushing the price up early

Do you like the look of my second car? I'll drive it until my white one is finnished. Put the Speedlines on it and the old lowering springs off the white one.
Will be cool

wouldn't push it right up though..
say it's sitting at £100.. u put in your max bid of say £200 would only show still sitting at £110 until somebody else bids then it tells them they have been outbid and would go up to say £120 etc..goes on like that till it gets to your max bid...

If you've already set yourself a top price, there's no harm in putting in the amount and leaving the proxy bid to do it's magic.
If people really want the item that much leave them to pay over the odds.
