no its what the scrap yard gave me, told me to look at my ECU and see what number it is as it must be the same or it won't work. Does it say where the ECU is in Haynes manual? gona have sum fun over the weekend hmmmmmmm!

ECU,I think is located back left hand side of the engine bay,attached to the bulkhead..

Cannot find it for shit grrrrr any pics of general area? says in my haynes for 97-00 on 1.6 ecotecs its located behind the right hand footwell trim pannel, is that behind the battery?

Before you do this - I've found the old post about fault code 35. This is idle control valve misreading. The ECU would give a fault code if the sensor was reading wrong. So you might need one of them instead.
There's two ways you can attempt this. Plug in a new ECU and see if you get the same fault code or get to the idle control valve and test that.
If you're going for the latter, disconnect the plug from it, the pins should be four in a line. There should be between 45 and 70 Ohm of resistance between pins 1 and 2 and between pins 3 and 4. Anything outside of that and its dicky.
If you want the good news form Vauxhall about how much one of these is, phone them and ask for an Idle Control Governor for the X16XE, part number is 17113196.

a auto elec plugged in diagnostic and said engine control module. he then said these cost £250.
i have found the ECU
