Just been to the rolling road near me, RR read out come out at 190bhp@5425rpm (C20LET) He said cus the intercooler is only a small one which is stuffed up the front passenger side of the engine bay, that the induction pipe is getting quite hot, therefore the warning light is coming on and the engine is being restricted. Said i either need a Bigger intercooler or a charge cooler running with the current intercooler i have got. I am not sure what the intercooler is off that is on mine So looks like i need a bigger intercooler with a new position in front of the rad, or get a charge cooler. Any suggestions anyone?? Oh by the way can anyone clarify whether the solenoid which restricts the boost works through all the gears or just 1st & 2nd?? My mate who had a C20LET Astra says that that will only restrict the boost in 1st and 2nd, the guy at the tuning place says that it restricts the boost in all gears Just wondering as mine is bypassed at the moment and not connected in

I assume that if you've not connected the restrictor, it'll be restricting in every gear.

why would you have a boost restrictor attached to the gearbox if it restricted the boost in all gears? 1st and 2nd only, if you bypass it it wont limit the boost at all.
Standard intercooler is too small and in a crap place on the Calibra's, so if you've put it in an equally poor, or poorer place it wont be doing you any favours. Get a decent sized front mounted intercooler, or at least stick the standard let on in front of the rad in full air flow. You want the pipework as smooth as possible with no kinks or anything.
Charge coolers can be complicated, a well positioned FMIC will be easier and better.

the ECU will retard ignition and cut boost if the inlet charge gets too high. also the ECU can restrict boost in a particular gear to increase traction. Get a pic of the front of your car and see where the IC is. also I suggest fitting a temp sensor and moniter your inlet temp.
does air get to the IC. so long as air gets to the IC then you should be fine
