Dont know why its started to happen cause the other tyres I had on werent too bad on the rubbing side of things, but my tyre is grinding like fcuk on the drivers side arch. Was fine until I put the new Yokohama's on.They rubbed the wheel arch liner away completley at the rim. Was told that they are a different shape to budget tyres and are more of a right angle on the rim, than rounded like cheaper ones. Also they were 205/45/17 as opposed to 205/40/17 that the old tyres were.
SOOOoooo I swapped them for a set of Falcon 205/40/17 thinking that this would rectify the problem and it didnt 
Thought at first the the tyre was grinding on the metal bit of the arch under the lining and that I needed the arches rolling, but having taken a closer look, they are grinding on the actual arch thats been blended into the bodywork  Its already starting to crack because of this and will only get worse if I dont sort it. Its almost as if a shorter spring has been put on and its lowered it more
So............ Do I :
Get longer springs on the front and raise it by, say, 5mm OR.
Get a set of coilovers, say, Bilstien, that are height adjustable OR
Have the smoothed arches trimmed a bit.
Which option would be the most effective, easiest and cheapest. Or is there anything else I can do
The car is off to the bodyshop next week for some touch up jobs doing, including the cracked arch so it needs sorting next week or the crack will just come back.
Gonna upload a few pics in a min to give you an idea if you cant envisage what I'm on about.
Any help will be much appreciated

Claire get those other tyres u were on about the other night 
Dont make your car any higher, you dont need to mess with arches as ur old tyres were fine. Do the swap

Yes I've got the 2ltr in. Is that a heavier engine??
The tracking does need doing. Its only rubbing when turning about half lock.

Have the arches trimmed so you've got more room, but you should also uprate the suspension with beefier front springs at least.
The 205/45 profile tyres are completely wank for the Corsa - would have been better to stick to 205/40 all round or even 195/40/17s

yeah 2.0L is heavier, id get the arches modded cos if its already cracked you will need to get them seen to anyway

Same again. The white bit on the arch is where its been rubbed away
A fuzzy pick of under the arch. Black bit - worn away arch liner. Middle red bit - Metal arch. Top red bit - Worn away smoothed arch

So a 195/40/17 tyre isnt as deep? Would I get a bit more clearance that way?
Anybody got a set for sale if so??

no matter what tyres were on there think that would rub...deffo need to mod arches or raise suspension slightly...IMO

MMmmm. Pissed off wi it really cause I like the way the car sits. Wont look right to me if I raise it a bit
But if I need to I'll have to.
Its G-max all round not sure if its lowered 35 or 40mm tho. Can I just get a set of springs 5mm higher??
Yeah the arches could be trimmed while at the bodyshop next week. So I'll ask them to roll all the arches (cause no doubt it'll start on another wheel at some point) and get the arches trimmed a bit too.
If I trim the arches it wont be as severe as a 5mm gain on the height will it??
Might look a bit better

The weight of the engine is certainly a factor. Coilovers are an option although this won't reduce suspension travel and you'll still have problems in major bumps and undulation.
My suggest would be to combine a few things, ie. 195/40 tyres, fix the arches obviously and bump stop the front dampers.

I've got bump stops on Ian. Maybe get them replaced?
By 'fixing' the arches, do you mean trimming them down a bit?
and 195/40 tyres, are they a lower profile?

Profile is a percentage of the width, so although the figure of 40 isn't lower, this is a percentage of a narrower tyre, so your sidewall is actually smaller.
Yeah, more trimming on the arches, it all helps.
Bump stops just need to be larger then. You'll probably find that you're limiting damage with having them fitted already but they're not doing the full job of keeping the wheel completely away from the arch.

Coilovers are a bit expensive anyways so this way wont be as expensive.
