I went to vaux a while ago enquiring about a brand new 2 litre C20XE they said it was £1200 plus u had to give them an engine in exchange,
So does any1 know how much they would exchnge a 2 litre turbo for?
Cos i would really like a turbo but dont want to get something with high miles!!!
Cheers

they told me it was £975 for an exchange of engine, they didnt say it was different for engines tho but i would emagine it is.
you get a recon engine, not a new one, but come from the same production line as new ones. dont know if they are still reconing C20lets due to the z20let being the engine of choice?

A re-built LET will be just as good as a brand new one... Possibly better, especially if you get the engine all cleaned out, balenced, lightened and polished e.t.c..

plus all you get in the exchange is the block, head, cam(s), oil filter, water pump...
basically just block & top-end which is dropped straight in ready to connect & go.

so would it be cheaper to jus recon the engine yourself or buy a unit from vaux?

Yup. Plus the engine you give them has to be in a reasonable condition.
Wankers.

They're not full engines, at least the LET's arent.
You'll get the basic block and cylinder head but thats it, no turbo, no ancilleries etc.
Plus the new engines they had would have been used up by now so they are rebuilt and reconditioned units but built to a new spec.
Guy on Mig bought one and cost him £4500 fully fitted, only the block was brand new the rest was reconditioned.

The LET's the same price as an XE. The only condition is that the engine you give back is built up & has no holes in the block
