Whats involved in jigging a car? I wanna know so I can start getting parts and such that may or may not need to be replaced.
I was told to replace whole front suspension setup. I dont think the hubs need replacing cos they are cast iron which cracks - not bends so you can tell if it is damaged. I can replace the suspension struts, balljoints and wishbones but thats it. I may need a new steering rack.
I was quoted £103 for a three hour jig. They cant do it at the moment, the wheels are not straight vertically  or horizontally either

basically they tie your car down, attach chains to certain parts and the machine pulls on the chains too try and pull the car straight again.
my bro was saying that the chain broke on there one once and it put a huge hole in the wall. the tension on the chain is emence.

£103 for 3 hours worth of jigging is a very good price m8 and if it needs it which it defo sounds like it does then I wud take their arms off for it to be done!
as for attachment they will choose points which are bent and need alligning what these are iam unsure of but im 101% sure that it will be on the chassis somewhere

My car was put on a jig to see if it was damaged i'm sure. And it wasn't, so no chassis untwisting was needed

Right theyd put the car onto the jig to check for chassis squareness if its a bracket type kig you know if its square if it goes into all brackets with minimum of fuss. The car will be secured to the jig using a mixture of bolts, nuts and chains. Then they will pull the damaged parts back into the approximate position using a dozer.
They SHOULD replace any parts that are damaged, but will probably just repair them. Where i work, if the suspension looks to have taken a knock most parts are replaced, then geomy check and more new bits if needed.
£103 for the jigging is a good price though. Good luck

Gonna have a chat with the guy tomorrow morning. I'm gonna get new lower arms and balljoints, fit them and see what difference it makes.
On the phone he said to fix the car would cost upto £1500, replacing everything in the front end. Yeah, so I said I'll do that myself and save about £1400.
Personally I can't see how both sides are out if its just the wishbones, so it must need a jiggin.

ur car shud only need a jig if its been involved in an accident?
putting a car on the jig because ur suspension is out aint gonna do a thing!!!

When you say replace everything in the front end i take it you mean rads, slam panel, bumper, wings, headlights like its been in a major front/side impact. May be jigging it to make sure the strut tower hasnt moved and if it has he can pull it there and then? Dunno without seeing it.
If its just the susp. it only needs to be strip and fitted then geometry checked. Could be done with front jacked up on axle stands normally a lift though.

The damage done was the suspension only, everything else untouched.
I'm gonna replace parts as I go and see if it makes a difference, cheapest first obviously. Go from there

if the cars taken a knock to the suspension and its both sides id say that uve been hit hard on one wheel. says to me that u will prob need a new steering rack (big dough) all suspension components at least on one side. take it to a garage which has a really gd wheel alignment system and they can use it to work out the geometry of the suspension and they can tell u wot needs replaced and wot doesnt. also if the wee cars been hit on a wheel the chassis leg will prob need a pull as corsa bs are notorious for the wheels moving in say a frontal impact...

I replaced the steering rack and both wishbones and have the bruises to show for it 
Doesn't seem to have straightened the wheels how I wanted, I was measuring things on the hub and it didn't match the other side, so I think I'll replace that with a 2nd hand one and see if it fixes it. In the mean time, it drives straight enough, however I have to track it myself.
