Thinking of getting a new car in a few weeks.

- Insurance is crucial must be under group 9.
- Reliability also very important - don't want to be forking out lots for repairs.
- Must look nice in standard form and not need huge money spending on kits etc. to look good.
- Performance - around 10 seconds 0-60 i.e. similar to my 1.4 corsa sport.

Budget is flexible depending on the car, its residuals etc. Looking to spend under £5,000 but could probably stretch to £7000 if it made sense financialy.

So some suggestions please.

Couldn't justify that price on a corsa 1.2 anyway to be honest. Thats right up top end of my budget - at that price level i'd be looking for something really special with good residuals.

Not saying its a bad price or anything and it is a nice car. Would make a good buy for someone else - just not for me. Good luck.

cheers some good suggestions.

Lupo - cheap, practical buy. But maybe a little small and not quite the car i'm after. not ruling out though.

Love the look of some ibizas. But don't know which engines are good and which ibizas are the ones i like the look of. Haven't seen enough to notice which ones i like etc. Also how much work involved to make them into cupra replicas?

jr - not sure about that. Depends on the car. I'm not 100% against small cars or 100% for larger cars. just want something that looks nice, goes well, reliable and maybe that x factor.
