mate is just getting set-up.
i'm happy with aol, but i know a lot of people don't like it, so i'm not going to recommend that to him.
basically want 512kbps broadband
free installation,
£25 max monthly charge
doesn't time you out/ auto disconnect after 3 hours
no or fairly high download limit.
must be on a bt line, not ntl or telewest.
had a quick look on adslguide but they don't list d'l limits or connection periods.
any imput appreciated
cheers

I don't know of any true ADSL companies that use a timed-disconnect method, like the old Surftime dial-up connections used to.
Free installation and £25 per month maximum, that rules out the company I work for!
ADSL Guide can be searched for your terms, leaving 14 ADSL companies......just a case then of checking each one for a download-limit: (link)

I used to be with them, and I'll agree that it was a great service (apart from when they started charging for static IPs).
But, they don't do free activation as requested, so there's £58.75 inc VAT onto the price...

Noticed there were one or two in there that were migration-only......if your mate doesn't already have an ADSL connection, he won't be able to use any of the ones marked with that.
