Think my sri is fucked
Loss of engine power
Car overheats when moving in slow traffic(fan still works)
I get white smoke or steam from the exhaust when moving off if the temp gauge is high.
Would I be right in thinking the head gaskets away?

it is until u have to get sum1 to fit it for u and then it suddenly becomes very expensive!
Just get hold of a home mechanic or a vauxhall mechanic who works for himself and u'll be sorted! got one like this near me and he's cheap and very good

AA man was good.
head gasket is away.
tappet on the cam follower is also away giving the engine a nasty ticking noise.
a local garage have quoted me £438 inc vat to replace the head gasket, skim the head, and sort the tappet. they also said i might need a new camshaft.
anybody got an opinion?

i'v got a degree in mechanical engineering but you don't touch things like that unless your 100% sure of what your doin.
as for the guy sayin do a 2litre conversion, are you friggin daft! that would cost about 2 or 3 times the price of fixin the thing properly not to mention the insurance.
