I know to some this might seem like a dumb question but. How come my power pack on my laptop gets very hot? Is this normal or is it faulty?

i think all laptops get hot make sure it had proper ventaltion

The step down transformer (IIRC, trying to recall A level physics here) produces heat as a side effect of the conversion from 230V to 12V or whatever your laptop runs on.
