listen you have a 1994 brochure. and most of the pre ecotecs are 93. so admit your wrong and that the c16xe engine is classed as a non ecotec. ask anyone who knows any thing about vauxhalls

finni PSTFU. Both C16 and X16 are ecotec engines, but one is a more advanced ecotec engine with more hindering technology that saps power. You are a mong if you believe anything max power tells you.

no its max power, with haynes providing TECHNICAL information on the cars design and mechanics. They have simply come to the conclusion that the C16XE isnt an ecotec unit because it isnt stamped on the engine. when in fact its an ecotec-4 unit as said before. It still has a CAT and various other methods of reducing bi-products, but is without the EGR since it was brought in under government legislation after the engine had actually been designed and built ready for the Corsa GSi to be ready for production. As you might well know, all of Vauxhalls engines are now ecotec units, and out here in australia, all modern V6 and 4 cylinder units are european ecotec units too. Older engines that are pre1993 design like the 1.2 8v, 1.4 8v are truly pre-ecotec design, since they were initally concepted without the new government legislation for lower emissions. I could go on and on all day about how vauxhall were actually the first european company to implement catalytic converters into all production cars around 1992/1993, in fact i even used to work for a bloke that helped build the catalytic converters for vauxhall.

going on what your saying then seen as though my engine is an ecotec unit, even though it is in category c euro emmisions, then the red top engine must also be an ecotec unit. seen as though it is in the same euro emissions class as the 1.6 without the egr valve. so really the ecotec engine is an ecotec. and the non ecoec is an ecotec. you aussies hey always upside down lol

ecotec isnt just about emissions, its a name that vauxhall gave to a new range of engines the first of which was the C16XE. ECOTEC stands for Emissions Consumption Optimisation TEChnology, it is as much about fuel economy as it is about emissions.
