A boot solenoid kit. Going to connect it to my alarm keyfob. is it the push solenoid I need or do the kits do either?

www.corsacentre.com does a kit for £20 i think.
you'd have to have it interfaced to your alarm by an approved fitter though.

you can use a pull solenoid if you need a push by attaching a link bar to the rod you needed to push and mount the solenoid on the other side.

Basically run them side by side, rather than in-line
