has been away for a while having a bit of work done.
i'm doing a c20xe into corsa job. came from my old calibra, and ran well, but thought it was an idea to do the gasket while the engine was out of a vehicle.
then started to look into having some mild headwork done whilst the head was coming off anyway. can't really afford it, but i just kinda followed on with it after asking some questions and for prices etc, just asked the guy how soon he could start.

it's a gm head, not coscast, so there are some gains to be had.
ports have been polished, the divides splitting the mixture to the two inlet valves of each cylinder have been re-shaped, not quite to a knife edge, but narrowed sufficiently. valve seats have been radiused and re-cut to seat the valves nicely, valve faces have been re-cut. some work has been done in the squish area(think thats the right term) although i'm not 100% sure what. whilst it was all apart, the hydraulic lifters have been ultrasonically cleaned, so it should be nice and quiet for a good few more years to come and run sweetly.
never had a real power figure from before hand, but i'll get the corsa on a dyno once the engine is re-mantled and slotted in. i know i wont see massive gains from this alone, but hopefully it will have optimised what was there to start with to aid future gains when i can afford more tuning.

Big thanks to Gary from Migweb. he's a great chap, and has done what looks like a great job.
he's based in Swindon if anyone is interested for themselves.

shame you can't see the pics. it's nice and shiney
body will be staying pretty standard.
gona have later type badges, smoothed off wiper and boot lock eventually, may adapt the front bumper slightly. post 97 rear. got black mhws on it now, got dark repeaters to go on, and still waiting on black headlights from sel-imperial (been about 6-7 weeks now). first job though is to tidy up the b-pillars where they have been repaired from cracking. i also have some vaux 6spokers coming back from refurb tomorrow in satin black, so they will be on as soon as i can get hold of tyres. it has the cally wheels on at the moment.

once it's at that stage i'll be happy with it, and start to concentrate on ringing some more power out of it. throttle bodies are the ultimate goal, but wont be for a couple of years.

How much we looking at to have the head cleaned up like that? Not wanting to go mad, mine looks like it needs a good clean up, and I need a new head gasket. Also me 2.0 is a bit tappy when its cold.

i paid £240 for the whole lot which is a bargain.
would be less if you stripped it all yourself, but i wasn't that confident about it, and don't have a valve spring compressor.

if you don't want all the work done, just a clean up, then it's something like £30 for chemical clean.

lifter clean was £20

Funny that, today I found a valve compressor in one of our sheds I think I'll just go for a proper good clean up 'cos the exhast ports have about 1mm of crap in them
