Just stuck in a 300 GB Hard Drive but Windows XP Home Ed. is only saying it's a 127 GB. Is this correct?
The motherboard is saying it's 300 GB so it's not that. Also put on SP2 but it's still saying it.
Partition Magic will allow me to make it 300 GB so it i can't get Windows happy then i will use that.

ur going to need to set it up and partition it before u put on xp, what make is it? maxblast3 of maxtor drives does the business every time.
if either the new or old drive is maxtor it will let u use thier software to set it up as long as there is a maxtor connected to the mobo

It's a Maxtor one. What i've done is allowed Windows to setup the 127 GB partition and then just used Partition Magic to resize it. It's done the job

xp only recognises drives up to 127gb
once u install service pack 2, go to Cp > admin tools > comp managment > disc managment - then u will see the rest of the drive showing

Drew you are right but that disc managment won't let you edit the drive size. Anyway, it sorted now with Partition Magic.
Cheers anyway

yes it will
bang in the XP disk and reboot the computer.. then it will ask u do u want to boot from the CD. press any key at this stage and let it go through all its boll*x. then when ya come to setting up the partitions select the size u want yer C:\ to be leave the rest for now. format that drive and install XP on that drive as the instructions prompt u.
THEN when ya boot up for the first time and u actually get into windows proper do as Drew said go into disk managment and the rest of the disk will be there... partition it and format the volumes u have selected.
