is it possible to paint a whole bumper
in a metallic colour with cans and get a good finish?

sure its possible, but hard for it to look even. You can goto halfords and ay 20 quid for a spray kit. Does the job professionally or so it says.

erm.. i redid some of the rear bumper,
i sprayed the spoiler and the front bumper,
but the spoiler still needs abit of work doing to it.. (i rushed it ) but ive learnt now..
just spraying some side strips for a MK4 astra will post pics up of the work

for the front, i used 2 cans of black 1 can of primer.

did you have to sand the bumper down....was it plastic primer or does the normal stuff ok

it was just grey primer from halfords..
sanded it down 2.

u can get different colours of plastic primer... i'm doing my bumper, and my wheels (cheers chris) this weekend

you CAN paint anythin cans, but a gun gives you a better finnish. also you cant use proper laquer i.e. 2pac, the stuff you get in a can is the absolutely shocking rfu stuff. the finish with this will NEVER be as good, and NEVER last as long

I agree with Ikky, you can use can's but the lacquer is where you will notice a big difference in quality, you can never put enough lacquer out of cans on to get it smooth without getting runs, if you don't get runs it will look orange peely, it is also always dull too. TBH Adam i'd look for a mate who has a compressor and gun and get them to do it.
