ok here i go!
salvaged cars come in catagories.
The most common and the only ones you are intrested in are Cat C and Cat D.
Cat C are the most common but mean that you need to take the car for a VIC test before a V5 can be issued, more info on this can be found here http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/carlgvowners/vehicleidentitycheck/applyingforavictest.htm
once the VIC has been completed you apply for the V5 and away you go back onto the road!
The VIC by the way just checks the DVLA's records with that of the car you have brought in to makesure its not a stolen car etc, nothing major.
A Cat D however is alot easier to get back on the road, all you have to do is repair it and apply for the V5 which you get without having to do a VIC test, however these are getting rarer by the day sadly.
If you need any more info then PM me mate cause i deal with these cars all day long!
That saxo looks like a nice and easy repair aswell

it was written off because insurance approved bodyshops charge so much to have repairs carried out. they also only use genuine parts so a door is gonna be at least £200 from citroen, then the wing is £70 then u have to strip down, repair, prep, spray, build back up, etc
the man hours involved in that could be a total of 10 but times this by £40 a hour and suddenly you've got a bill creeping towards £700 and that doesnt even include the price of paint etc.
its absolutly crazy and is one of the main reasons why insurance is so high, they right cars off with less damage than that these days....makes me sick!

Looks like new N/S Wing, N/S Door, porrible N/S A-post damage, more then likely N/S flitch damaged, N/S sill panel as well.
If the car has been written off and you want to get it repaired and put on the road, you need to get the car examined by an engineers. He checks the car has been repaired properly and is safe to drive etc.....
If its been written off, not much point unless your gonna bodge it (wing and door) and i fucking hate that. Imagine buying a car and finding out its as bent as graham norton. Gives people who can professionally repair cars a shite name.
Just my opinion
Good luck

a Cat C is the highest you can buy and put back on the road.
I had the Traffics come out to check mine and just a normal mot.
