just curious, can having these vents in ur bonnet damage ur engine... because all the water etc getting on the engine / electrics?

make something to cover the electrics
also vents act as downforce when doing fast speeds, the oncoming air enters the bumper and gaps in the front, so all this air acts as resistance in the engine bay by hitting the engine and bulk head, but with a vent all the air exits the vents and flows over the windscreen, this pushing down on the car/roof and if you have an ironing board spoiler this also creates a streamline affect.

Yep, I've just finished making a bonnet with a recess plate that takes any entering water away from the engine.

a drip tray is only of use if the car gets left out in the open though yeah?
as soon as it's on the move, any water going in the vent will just shoot off the back of the tray anyway?!?!?!

Just seal up the back of the vent.

or a rearward facing vent would draw cold air through the bay faster to give a positive cooling effect on the engine?

More ideal for 2litre corsa's, especially when going up the strip at pod or anywhere else, track car's, or any other competative driving, get's rid of the engine bay air resistance against engine components and the bulk head, and creates a streamline and downforce.

no?
Nothing to do with cooling, especially at high speeds the c20let's and c20xe's run better at 92-95 degrees c anyway (can't find the degree symbol on my keyboard )
Besides let's do an example: your flying up the 1/4 mile as you gain speed there's more air running through your front grill and the gaps in the front bumper, that would cool the engine anyway which solves your theory on engine cooling, where does that air go now? there's no vent for it to escape,it can't go backwards because there's a bonnet, a bulk head and 2 front wings holding it all in.
The F50 bonnet vent is great for this, and when i run at lincoln, my times with my F50 vented bonnet were 7/10's quicker than my times with a subaru vented bonnet and half a second quicker than with a standard corsa bonnet on.

thats the point off joffs bonnet but hes too lazy to fit it lol, on a 1.2 8v like this lad has i think or am i rong, then i wouldnt bother making it runctional, no point jus tget water everywhere lol!
