if it was taxed insured and MOT'd then they had no right to take it without your consent, unless you had parking tickets etc outstanding.

not if it was left on council property (basicly anything thats not privatley owned) and the there was a notic on the car clearly stating the polices intention to take the car away for 14 (i think) days

just got back from the police station, it was taken on a technicality..
causing an obstruction.. which is bloody stupid, as my road isnt wide enough to not park on the pavement, so obviously i left it half on/off the pavement to allow access to the road... so from now on thats it, no wheels on the pavement, dont give a sh*t if people have to then mount the curb to get round my car...
teach em a lesson for being so petty..

and another thing, people often park across our gates, and the police do nothing... grrrr

How are you going to put the plate on retention?

Surely having a stripped car will void the tax and insurance??

You're not allowed to put your wheels on the pavement? Did you explain that there are no wheels on the pavement?

Not a lot of people know that but its illegal to put any part of a car on a public walkway.

Problem with parking in the road though - people crash in to your car. Its a bit of a lose-lose situation. It'd be interesting to move your shell in to the road and see what the neighbourhood reaction to that is. The eyesore remains but its now a pain to manourvre around

the mot isnt worth the paper its written on anyway. any testable item only has to meet the standard at the time of the test it doesnt mean the items will meet the standard an hour later.
